How To Get A Community Care Grant

The Social Fund includes a Community Care Grant that helps people who receive Income Support or Income-based Job Seekers Allowance or people who are likely to receive those benefits.  The purpose of Community Care Grants is to help people live independently in the community and to ease pressures on families.  A wide range of personal circumstances is covered as well as a variety of needs and expenses.  These community care grants are great because they do not have to be paid back.

One of the following must also apply to your situation:

  • You are moving to a new home which will be suitable for you following an unsettled circumstance in your life and you are being resettled by an organization such as a local council or voluntary organization
  • You need help to stay in your home and not go into residential or hospital care
  • You need help because you or your family face exceptional pressure
    • For example; A family breakdown or long term illness
